Biosketch

Denis Noble is Emeritus Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology at the University of Oxford. Together with his supervisor Otto Hutter, Noble discovered two of the main cardiac potassium ion channels and in 1960, Noble developed the first mathematical model of cardiac cells using his discovery. Noble has held the positions of Director of Computational Physiology, Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, University of Oxford, President of International Union of Physiological Sciences, and President of the Virtual Physiological Human Institute.
