Biosketch

Jamie Caldwell is a PhD student supervised by Richard Watson at the University of Southampton, studying evolutionary optimization and deep learning. Jamie graduated from Sheffield University with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and spent three years in the aerospace industry working as a computational engineer specializing in hypersonic flow. In his PhD project, Jamie is developing the implementation and application of a new optimization technique which combines deep learning techniques in neural networks with distributed optimization methods to create a dynamically re-scalable optimization process.
